Biography

AnnaLisa is the youngest of four children and the only daughter, born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After graduating high school, she moved to Charlotte, NC with her parents. This turned out to be a blessing since it was just a few short years later that she met her husband in the Film Actor’s Studio of Charlotte. As she studied acting at the Studio, AnnaLisa was in several films and made-for-TV movies, as well as performed in local theater in both dramatic and musical roles. At one time, it was AnnaLisa’s dream to be a professional singer.

AnnaLisa completed her undergraduate degree in Human Services at Wingate University and her Master’s degree in Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. During her thirteen years in the Human Services field, AnnaLisa worked with children in group homes and foster care, and spent two years in private practice counseling individuals, families, and couples.

When her father was in a near fatal car accident in 2010, AnnaLisa’s best coping skill turned out to be writing. Five months after the accident, when all the what ifs would not go away, AnnaLisa started writing Layla Weston’s story in The Lake. She had no idea what she was going to do with the story. In fact, she wrote sixty-four pages before she told her husband what she was doing. By then it was clear that Layla had a long story to tell and there were multiple books on the horizon.

In 2013, after all three YA novels in The Lake Trilogy were written and she had let them sit long enough, AnnaLisa took matters into her own hands and self-published the titles within just a few months of each other. Received well by readers young and not-so-young alike, The Lake Trilogy has enjoyed breakout success, selling close to half-million copies the first year.

AnnaLisa’s publicist is Rick Miles of Red Coat PR, and she is represented by Italia Gandolfo of GH Literary. AnnaLisa has been married to her super awesome husband Donavan since 2001 and lives in Matthews, NC with their two ridiculously beautiful children.

  3. I read the The Lake Trilogy and loved it. I am not an avid reader and once I started, I couldn’t stop. I was captivated from the very beginning. I read all 3 books in about 6 days and was sad when I finished the last one. I was just wondering if you have talked with anyone to see about turning the trilogy into a movie? I think it would awesome to see the books come to life. Just a suggestion 🙂

  4. Hi! I kinda ‘stumbled’ into the downloading of your book in my kindle and I must say I love it! I feel like a teenager reading a nice love story while I can foresee twists and turns coming (I am half way through the 1st book!) I love how the story is unfolding and almost teared on the train when Layla first called Luke, Uncle Luke.
So looking forward to reading the rest of the 2 books!! I wish the story can be made into a TV Serial!
    Thanks!!

    1. Hi Dana! Thanks for writing! I’m honored that you are loving Layla and Will’s story so much! I hope you enjoy Troubled Waters and Safe Harbor! Sounds like you might be one of my UK readers. 5. I just read all of the Lake Triology books in two days. I could not put them down. You are an excellent author. I can’t wait to read more.

  6. I downloaded the first book on iBooks, and like another, I am NOT an avid reader. I was in a near death car crash from a seizure driving, and I have to take the bus (since they take your license from you for 6 months for each seizure…). So I take your book with me! It feels like I’m in high school again!! (And I’m 46!). I cannot read these fast enough and I’m half way through Troubled Waters! I got 4 hours of sleep last night! I’m in Fort Myers Beach, FL. You have to get these books in the libraries so they can be made into movies! They are PERFECT for the big screen! I agree with the others! You have brought such a smile back to my face and love to my heart! I remember my first love at that age and it was just like Layla and Will! Thank you!

    1. Hi Kimberly! Thank you so much for taking the time to write! I’m always so honored to hear that my books have helped usher non-readers into the wonderful world to avid reading! I’m so sorry to hear about your accident, but so glad that you are OKAY! I’m glad that my books help you pass the time on the bus! And I’m not even one bit sorry that they keep you up at night because you can’t put them down! LOL! If you’d like to see them in your local libraries, be sure to let them know! They listen to their patrons! We’ll keep our fingers crossed together that one day we’ll see Will and Layla’s story on the big screen!
Thank you, again, for reaching out! It’s YOU who has brought a smile to MY face and love to MY heart! ((HUGS))
